Query: Do you miss dreaming?
// electric sheep // is a solo journaling TTRPG where you make and record a dream in a dream journal of your choosing, and make at least one new friend in the process. it is also about the implicit terrors of the digital age, and the resulting value we place on dreams and imagination, despite their fleeting and ephemeral nature. the game is surrealist in nature and may not be suitable for those with ongoing unreality concerns, but i trust you to know yourself.
materials required:
-something to write on/with
-at least one d6 die or dice rolling application
-booklet or play-along audio game

played this for the first time with only one dream event and a surprisingly sudden success, and i was already crying from the beginning of the recording, but i am certainly crying now. your voice hits like a warm robotic hug and really made all of this so beautiful to follow along with.
my dream was that i found a baby whose umbilical cord was connected to the caldera of a frozen over volcano. my adjectives were cold and acidic, so the air hurt to walk around in, but i wasn't necessarily scared. the frost turned into warm smoky, fog that turned into walls around me and the baby and suddenly we were in an liminal empty room with a river? (steadily streaming, flowing body of water) and a basket. i put the baby in the basket and there were cattails that helped steer the baby down. i eventually stopped seeing the baby/basket because it went so far away into nothingness, but it was framed in light that i began to associate with the baby. my journey was done, so i sat in the water and something kissed the back of my head. i was myself and alone, feeling nothing, but i woke up feeling whole somehow. i'm still interpreting it, and would love to hear what folks think!
what a beautiful dream and beautiful recounting!! thank you so much!! it was so wonderful to read through this and i am very flattered & overjoyed that you have gotten something so lovely from my work. <3 reading it from my perspective, it reads almost like you taking your inner child out of a harsh & difficult environment and sending it down a kinder path... just beautiful!
it always boils down to that damn inner child.......................... have a safe trip, baby
this is easily one of the best solo games i have ever played. it sparks a lot of imagination and creativity, but also has more structure than most solo games which really makes it feel like a *game* more than a writing prompt. so well done!
thank you so much for your kind words, that is high praise indeed!! very glad you enjoyed your [DREAM]! <3 <3 <3
Amazing game! I don’t think anything has ever gotten me to consider dreams/nightmares with such a close texture as this did when I played it, and I’ve played it only one (1) time so far. Definitely going to come back for more. Thanks for making it!
thank you so much for your kind words, and so glad you plan to [DREAM] again! we look forward to seeing you ❤️🦋
It is such a wonderful and chilling enjoyment to play this game, short but well-structured! Thanks for making this nice little jewel.
thank you for your kind words! ❤️🦋
I really like this game. It goes great with 3am sleeplessness and searching "chill cyberpunk music" on youtube. I like how it only uses a few easily obtained materials, that it's a heavily guided experience, and that it's super replayable. I very much recommend this to anyone interested.
thank you so much for your kind words. i'm very glad you enjoyed your [DREAM] ❤️🦋
I don't write reviews often, so bare with me...
This game was absolute fantastic. I found it looking for solo RPGs to play, and I am so incredibly glad I found it. It is incredibly unique and really thought out, it captures the haziness of a dream, and lets you make a character without ever really making a character!
My first play through I ended up writing a LOT and I will definitely play through again, it really captures the imagination, and gives you some good [SEROTONIN].
Thanks for this amazing game!
my sincerest apologies for the delayed response, but this review truly made my day. thank you so much for your kind words, i'm very very glad you enjoyed your dream (and plan to dream again)! ❤️🦋
Found this game on a whim and so glad I did. What a great concept, and I loved the addition of the audio. I really liked the very eerie (yet fascinating) ambiance. It made for a unique playthrough where I felt both haunted and intrigued to dive deeper.
Also very cool that during both runs I was never myself, and ended up "waking up" without ever knowing who my character actually was. Nicely thought out and well done!
sorry to reply to this comment a month late, but i'm so glad you enjoyed your dream! thank you so much for your kind words. ❤️🦋
I just happened to see Rory QRT this right after I discovered the solo genre...and wow, I'm so happy to have remembered that I bookmarked it. This was the short little experience I desperately needed tonight!
By playing this as myself, I actually managed to dredge up an old reoccurring nightmare I had as a kid. Didn't even fudge the dice, it just happened like that. Of course this is by no means a psychological tool, but I can see SO much potential for replaying this as my personal characters and using it as a means to explore their personalities and histories!
Thank you for your hard work!! Can't wait to see what else you create!! 🦋
AWWW YAY!!! yet another reason to have her in the special thanks!! so glad you found it & enjoyed your dream! <3 thank you for your kind words, i'm very flattered!
Wow, everyone do yourself a favour and go play this right now! 🩵🩵
This is such a fun and immersive game! It’s short but establishes dozens of visceral, eloquent and intriguing character motivations, conflicts and worlds in very few words.
Genuinely the best and most engaging narrative structure I've ever seen for a short game of this length! This is so skilfully written and the art is hauntingly beautiful. The VA work is also an awesome touch.
I'll totally ask myself these questions about my own characters and environments when plotting out short stories in the future! It’s great inspiration for anyone who loves storytelling and shows real skill in multiple areas of game design. Fantastic work :)
thank you so, so much for your kind words! i'm so glad that you enjoyed the game! truly, i am so flattered by this review; more than words can say. thank you again. ❤️🦋⚡️
I playtested this when it was just plain text on a page, and it was amazing then! Now it's got all this beautiful formatting and an audio game too! Awesome job :D
